Hawaii hopped on the boat excitedly. Today, she was going to visit South Dakota. It would be her first time seeing snow and she was ready. The boat trip was long, but after a while, it finally docked in California. Hawaii sneaked past her older sibling (California) and took the train until the end of the line, which just happened to be in South Dakota. Quietly, the young state ran over to South Dakota's house and knocked on the door. As she waited, she looked around and then down at her feet. She shivered as sht cold finally got to her. South Dakota sounded surprised to see her. He asked her why she was here. "I wanted to see the snow," Hawaii shivered, her body still cold from outside. South Dakota scolded her, but then gave her a coat to wear. He then said that if dad allowed it, she could go sledding with him. Their father allowed it and Hawaii cheered happily. She was so excited to see the snow. But then she looked down at her feet and said, "But South Dakota.... What about my feet? And my legs?" South Dakota looked genuinely surprised and said, "Oh! Right! I forgot." He led Hawaii up to his room and got out some jeans and a turtleneck, both of which probably had belonged to North Dakota at one point. The younger state put them on and said, "What about my feet?" "I've got you covered," South Dakota said, producing a pair of fluffy boots and long, white socks. Hawaii slipped them on and smiled as her body instantly warmed up.
